The home side dominated from the start and controlled possession against a defensive Cobresal. By halftime the scoreline already reflected the visitors' inability to respond.
The match was interrupted for several minutes at halftime after a fan suffered a health issue in the Caupolicán stand. Medical staff attended to the supporter, who was taken away by ambulance, before play resumed.
With the win Colo Colo finished the first round with 12 victories and three defeats, posting an 80 percent performance rate and a 12-point lead over its closest rivals.
