Core Keeper experiences player surge after major update

The survival game Core Keeper has seen a significant increase in players following the release of its Void & Voltage update. Daily player counts on Steam have more than doubled since the update launched on February 25, 2026. The update introduces new content that has drawn fans back to the title across multiple platforms.

Core Keeper, a pixel art sandbox survival game, entered Early Access in 2022 and reached its 1.0 release in 2024. Developed as an open-world survival title supporting co-op for up to eight players, it gained solid popularity, particularly after launching on consoles including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The game achieved an all-time peak of nearly 46,500 concurrent players on Steam but had settled to a daily peak of several thousand before the recent update.

The Void & Voltage update, released on February 25, 2026, has revitalized interest in Core Keeper. This major content addition follows the previous Bugs & Blast update from March 2025, with only minor updates in between. Originally planned for late 2025 and then delayed to January 2026, the update brings a new biome to explore, along with new bosses, enemies, systems, and items. These features provide fresh exploration opportunities, especially in co-op mining sessions.

Since the update's launch, Steam's daily player count has more than doubled, propelling Core Keeper up the charts. The surge likely extends beyond PC, as the game was offered for free to PS+ Essential subscribers in January 2026, and the update is available on consoles. Core Keeper holds a Very Positive rating on Steam and is priced at $19.99 across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms. It is currently on sale for 40% off on Steam and the Nintendo eShop until March 5, 2026.

This resurgence highlights how substantial updates can re-engage communities in established games like Core Keeper.
