Police found the decomposing bodies of an elderly couple in their apartment in Tama City, Tokyo, on Friday. The bodies showed no visible external injuries.
At 2:15 p.m. on Friday, police received an emergency call from a neighbor about a strange odor coming from the apartment.
Officers contacted the building security company and entered using a spare key. They found the man lying face-up on the bedroom floor and the woman lying face-up on the kitchen floor.
According to police, the bodies were decomposing with no visible external injuries and no signs of a struggle or ransacking. Autopsies will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
