During Wednesday's Allsvenskan match at Stora Valla in Degerfors, AIK fans threw a beer mug at Degerfors captain Daniel Sundgren. Play was halted in the eighth minute as three fans were removed from the stands. Degerfors won 2–1 after a controversial winning goal.
In the eighth minute at Stora Valla, Daniel Sundgren, a former AIK player and now 35-year-old captain for Degerfors, had a beer mug thrown at him during a throw-in. Sundgren, who has over 100 matches and an SM-gold with AIK, reacted angrily and directed words at the stands.
Play was paused for a few minutes as security intervened and three supporters were removed. Degerfors soon took the lead when AIK's Stanley Wilson Omondi deflected Marcus Rafferty's cross into his own net. The match ended 2–1 to Degerfors after a controversial winning goal.
Post-match, Sundgren broke down in an SVT Sport interview. "I don't know why I deserve a beer thrown at me," he said emotionally, adding: "It feels very sad, considering most people at this arena know where my heart has always been since I was a child. But it's extra nice to win then." Sundgren cried, recalling how he always put AIK first, even playing while ill, suffering a pulmonary embolism but returning for the SM-gold.
"I actually expected a bit more love," Sundgren commented on the incident to Nerikes Allehanda. The victory broke a streak for Degerfors after a year and 17 days without a home win.
