Dian announces virtual auction of seized jewelry and vehicles

The National Tax and Customs Directorate (Dian) has announced a virtual auction of seized goods, including jewelry, watches, vehicles, and precious metals. The event will take place from November 25 at 8:00 a.m. until November 27 at 2:30 p.m. Interested parties must register in advance on the El Martillo platform of Banco Popular.

The Dian, in partnership with Banco Popular and El Martillo, is organizing this auction of goods seized, confiscated, or abandoned following inspections across various regions of Colombia. The items include jewelry, precious metals, watches, trucks, cars, and motorcycles, located in cities such as Barranquilla, Bogotá, Cali, Cartagena, Medellín, and Urabá.

To participate, individuals must register on the El Martillo website of Banco Popular, where they can view the full catalog, detailed descriptions, and conditions. "Interested persons must register in advance on the El Martillo del Banco Popular website. There, the full catalog of merchandise can be consulted, detailed descriptions of each item reviewed, and participation conditions known," the Dian explained in a statement.

Once registered, bidders make a virtual deposit to select lots. During the auction, the system indicates whether the bid is 'winning' or 'losing,' allowing real-time adjustments, with a timer per lot. At the end, the winner receives the adjudication minutes via email and has four business days to pay the remaining balance.

"The process will be conducted under strict principles of legality, transparency, and with the institutional backing of the Dian and Banco Popular. The entity invites citizens to take advantage of this opportunity to acquire valuable goods in a safe and reliable environment," the Dian added. Deposits from non-winners are automatically refunded.
