DJI filed a lawsuit against Insta360 on June 11 over alleged patent infringement on the Osmo Pocket 3 design. Insta360 responded with countersuits claiming DJI violated its gimbal stabilization patents.
Camera companies DJI and Insta360 are locked in mutual legal action over competing self-stabilizing vlogging cameras. DJI alleges that Insta360's Luna Ultra copies design elements from the Osmo Pocket 3, including the handheld body, neck, scroll wheel, record button, rotating display and tracking technology.
DJI seeks a permanent injunction against sales of the Luna Ultra, along with damages and profit disgorgement. The company also points to a December 2025 Federal Communications Commission ruling that restricts its own camera sales in the United States.
Insta360 counters that DJI's Osmo Pocket series and other products infringe five of its patents on gimbal stabilization and related technologies. It traces the Luna Ultra's core features to earlier Insta360 products such as the Link and Flow series.
Both companies have been contacted for further comment on the ongoing disputes.
