Dozens of official documents, including INE credentials and bank cards, were found abandoned on a stretch of Mexico 15 highway south of Mazatlán. The items belong to at least 14 people from various Mexican states and were discovered on Thursday by search collectives. Some may be linked to a robbery of CFE workers in November 2025.
On Thursday afternoon, in the Los Gavilanes ranch south of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, search collectives located dozens of official documents scattered in men's and women's wallets and purses. Among the findings are credentials from the National Electoral Institute (INE), driver's licenses, bank cards, school IDs, and international documents. As of Friday, January 23, at least 14 owners from states such as Mexico, Puebla, Nayarit, Veracruz, Chiapas, Tamaulipas, Tabasco, and Hidalgo have been identified.
Search collectives from various states announced the identities on Friday for authorities to contact the affected individuals. Notable documents include the university credential of Fernando Adán Calderón Hernández, a graduate in Logistics and Transportation Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Tlaxcala (UPTEP), from Calpulalpan. Another belongs to Kenia Romero Santana, from Tula de Allende, Hidalgo, who allegedly worked in the municipal Mayor's Office and died in March 2022 according to an obituary. Juan Pablo Saavedra Munguía, with an address in Almoloya de Juárez, was also identified.
A group of Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) workers reported that at the end of November 2025, they were robbed by an armed group that took their wallets containing credentials and cards. These employees plan to go to the Sinaloa State Prosecutor's Office to check if the found wallets are theirs, as some INE credentials are current.
