Egypt and Kuwait discuss strengthening tourism cooperation

Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathi, met with Kuwait's Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Omar Saud Al-Omar, on the sidelines of the 52nd meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Middle East in Kuwait.

Sherif Fathi expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and the strong organization of the 52nd session of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Middle East. Omar Saud Al-Omar welcomed the Egyptian minister and congratulated him on the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, describing it as a global cultural and civilizational landmark. He praised the opening ceremony as spectacular, saying it reflected Egypt's historic depth and cultural stature.

The two ministers reaffirmed the deep-rooted and longstanding ties between Egypt and Kuwait. They discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of museum management and benefiting from Egypt's expertise in restoration and heritage conservation. Fathi also reviewed the Ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance the overall tourism experience in Egypt, highlighting partnerships established with the private sector to operate and develop services at museums and archaeological sites, aimed at improving the visitor experience and raising the quality of services provided.

Sherif Fathy, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, began his Sharm El-Sheikh visit with a meeting with Ismail Kamal, Governor of South Sinai, to discuss strengthening cooperation for the tourism sector. The talks covered increasing inbound tourists and improving service quality.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi reaffirmed full support for Kuwait’s security and stability during a meeting with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Cairo. Both sides stressed deepening economic ties and coordinating on regional issues. They praised the longstanding historical relations between the two countries.

Egypt and Morocco signed a series of agreements spanning industrial cooperation, investment, and avoidance of double taxation, the Egyptian cabinet said. Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Moroccan counterpart Aziz Akhannouch witnessed the signing in Cairo’s New Administrative Capital. The ceremony concluded the first session of the Egyptian-Moroccan Coordination and Follow-up Committee.

Hussein Eissa, Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, took part in a joint Egyptian-American working session hosted by Motaz Zahran, Egypt's Ambassador to the United States.
