Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday between Egypt and Sweden to boost bilateral cooperation in health and medicine. The MoU was inked by Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population and Sweden's Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, focusing on exchanging expertise and advancing healthcare systems.
In a move reflecting strong ties between the two nations, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday in Cairo. The agreement was signed by Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, on behalf of Egypt, and Elisabet Lann, Sweden's Minister for Healthcare, on behalf of her country. Sweden's Ambassador to Cairo, Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt, also attended the ceremony.
The MoU aims to support the development of health systems and improve the quality and efficiency of medical services provided to citizens, through the exchange of expertise and best practices in public health. Madbouly stated that the agreement aligns with Egypt's efforts to strengthen international cooperation in the medical field and benefit from leading global experiences, noting that such partnerships bolster the government's initiatives to enhance healthcare services and achieve the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Key areas of cooperation include developing 'One Health' strategies to support public health, exchanging expertise in establishing and operating public health control centers, and exploring opportunities to utilize modern technologies in the healthcare sector. It also covers primary healthcare services, maternal and child health, and facilitating collaboration between specialized medical centers and research institutions in both countries, along with any other areas agreed upon in the future.
Abdel Ghaffar described the signing as an important step toward deepening health cooperation between Egypt and Sweden, emphasizing Egypt's commitment to building international partnerships in the healthcare sector and drawing on advanced expertise to strengthen the health system's capacity to address current and future challenges. The partnership with Sweden opens new avenues for exchanging expertise in public health, scientific research, and applying modern technologies, in line with Egypt's digital transformation agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals, and Egypt Vision 2030.
