Egypt's foreign minister reaffirms support for UN efforts in Middle East

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting the United Nations' efforts to promote sustainable development in the Middle East amid ongoing political, economic, and social challenges. The remarks came during his meeting with UN Assistant Secretary-General Abdallah Al Dardari to discuss expanding cooperation and preparations for an upcoming international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, hosted by Egypt in November.

During the meeting between Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Abdallah Al Dardari, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, the minister highlighted Egypt's role as a main partner of the UN Development Program (UNDP) and its ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange among developing countries.

Abdelatty stated that Egypt is committed to supporting the United Nations’ efforts to promote sustainable development in the Middle East amid ongoing political, economic, and social challenges. He expressed appreciation for the UNDP’s role in supporting Egypt’s national development agenda and noted that the government looks forward to further cooperation in job creation, investment attraction, and production growth, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The minister reviewed ongoing preparations for the international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, to be hosted by Egypt in November, affirming that Egypt welcomes strong participation from UN agencies to help launch early recovery projects and ease the humanitarian situation in the Strip. This meeting underscores Egypt's diplomatic engagement in regional development amid broader Middle East challenges.
