Armando Antonio Toledo Rosas, known as El Bogueto, took part on July 23 in President Claudia Sheinbaum's morning press conference. The singer performed his song Mi Barrio during the announcement of the first semifinalists for the México Canta program.
Armando Antonio Toledo Rosas, from Nezahualcóyotl in the State of Mexico, attended Palacio Nacional as a special guest. He explained that his appearance aimed to motivate young people from the barrio to pursue their dreams through talent and music.
The binational México Canta program registered 16,289 participants aged 18 to 29 from Mexico and the United States. El Bogueto presented the first seven semifinalists and thanked the government for supporting emerging artists.
Culture Secretary Claudia Curiel noted that El Bogueto built his career independently. President Sheinbaum said she prefers promotion and awareness-raising over banning music genres such as narcocorridos.
