Elden Ring Nightreign's Forsaken Hollows DLC releases with new classes and patch

FromSoftware's Elden Ring Nightreign receives its first paid DLC, The Forsaken Hollows, priced at $15, introducing new characters, areas, and challenges. The expansion launches on December 3 at 6:00 p.m. ET for PC players, with console users accessing it on December 4 at 12:00 a.m. ET. It arrives alongside patch version 1.03, which includes quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes.

Release Details

The Forsaken Hollows DLC for Elden Ring Nightreign goes live with staggered timings across platforms. PC owners can access it starting December 3 at 6:00 p.m. ET, while Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PS4 players must wait until December 4 at 12:00 a.m. ET. Some Xbox users may use time zone adjustments for earlier entry, but PlayStation versions follow the later schedule without exceptions.

Accessing the Content

To unlock the DLC's features, players must first defeat Tricephalos, the three-headed wolf Nightlord. Afterward, visit the Roundtable Hold, speak to the Iron Menial, and receive a message from the Small Jar Merchant to access the new Scholar and Undertaker classes. For the Shifting Earth event, defeating a second Nightlord is required, followed by interacting with a chapel behind the Small Jar Merchant to activate 'The Great Hollows.'

New Additions

The DLC introduces two Nightfarer classes: the Scholar, a support role with the Analyze skill for debuffing enemies via a scoped view, Bagcraft passive for extra item capacity, and Communion ultimate that links enemies and allies for shared damage and healing. The Undertaker offers aggressive melee play with Trance skill providing free stamina and speed boosts, Loathsome Hex ultimate for targeted attack flurries, and Confluence passive granting a free ultimate when allies use theirs.

A new area, the Great Hollows, features distinct points of interest, ruins, and underground mazes accessible by flight. It includes the Balancers Nightlord boss, poison swamps in Limveld, additional field bosses, and new weapons. Director Junya Ishizaki noted, “Whenever people who have played the main game extensively go into the DLC content, they’ll be able to have a bit of that feeling like they had when they first played Nightreign... [The Forsaken Hollows is] definitely a little bit harder, but it’s not ridiculous or anything like that, but that’s still within what we would consider to be a fair challenge.”

Patch 1.03 Highlights

The accompanying update, already live, focuses on tweaks without altering existing character balances. It adds relic display options, preset naming in the Relic Rites menu, and shop adjustments like Deep Large Scenic Flatstone availability. Balance changes broaden low-HP effect triggers and boost various attack passives. Bug fixes address issues like Raider’s Retaliate skill failures, Site of Grace activation problems, and graphical glitches, alongside performance improvements.
