Entourage creator names favorite Bono cameo from HBO series

Doug Ellin, the creator of the HBO series Entourage, identified a Season 2 cameo by U2 singer Bono as his favorite from the show. The moment occurred during a real concert on the band's 2005 Vertigo tour.

In a 2020 interview, Ellin recalled the scene from the episode "I Love You Too." Bono wished happy birthday to the character Johnny Drama, played by Kevin Dillon, on Ellin's actual birthday.

Ellin said the experience stood out because it blended fiction with reality. "Having Bono say: 'Happy Birthday' to Johnny Drama on my actual birthday, during a U2 concert was pretty special," he stated.

Actor Jerry Ferrara, who portrayed Turtle, described the filming at the live U2 concert. The cast was prepared for the possibility that Bono might or might not deliver the line.

Bono performed the song "City of Blinding Lights" before delivering the birthday message in Spanish. He later appeared in another Entourage episode in Season 6.
