Erin and Ben Napier won't host Home Town Takeover season four

HGTV's Home Town Takeover is moving to Canada for its fourth season, prompting a hosting change. Stars Erin and Ben Napier, American citizens, cannot legally host the Canadian production but will appear as guest stars.

Home Town Takeover, the HGTV renovation series, will head to Canada for season four, leading to a shift in its hosting lineup. Popular duo Erin and Ben Napier announced they are stepping back from hosting duties due to legal restrictions tied to their U.S. citizenship.

Erin explained the situation in a statement to Deadline: “Our production company is Canadian. The people who make our show, they’re passionate about this Canadian takeover. But, because we are Americans, we are not legally allowed to host the show. We can only be in it as, like, guest stars.”

The series will instead be hosted by a yet-to-be-named Canadian husband-and-wife team. Despite the change, the Napiers will remain involved alongside other HGTV contributors. The official logline describes the season as: “Ben and Erin Napier, along with members of the HGTV family, lead a major overhaul to revitalize a small town by renovating the homes of the town’s changemakers, businesses and community spaces.”

This marks a departure from previous seasons, where the Napiers led efforts to transform American small towns. A premiere date for the new season has not been announced, leaving fans awaiting further details on the Canadian location and hosting pair.

The announcement highlights the logistical challenges of international productions, ensuring compliance with local regulations while maintaining the show's core focus on community revitalization.
