The Iowa City Police Department received a report of a large fight in the 100 Block of East College Street at 1:46 a.m. on Sunday. Officers arriving at the pedestrian mall near the University of Iowa campus heard gunfire, police said in a news release. Five people were shot and hospitalized as a result. Police confirmed to CBS News that one victim is in critical condition, with the other four stable. None of the victims has been publicly identified. University of Iowa President Barb Wilson stated that three students were among those shot. The university shared police requests for information about the incident. No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues. Police are seeking tips on five persons of interest associated with the shooting. The pedestrian mall was closed for several hours but reopened Sunday afternoon.
