Florida man fatally shot over Walmart parking spot

A 62-year-old father of three was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon outside a Walmart in North Lauderdale, Florida, after an argument over a parking space.

Bart Diguglielmo, a U.S. Army veteran, was involved in a verbal altercation with an unidentified woman in the parking lot of the store at 7900 W. McNab Road. Deputies from the Broward County Sheriff's Office responded around 12:28 p.m. and found him suffering from a single gunshot wound to the stomach.

Paramedics took Diguglielmo to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The woman remained at the scene and told investigators the shooting was in self-defense, according to a sheriff's office press release.

Cellphone footage shows the woman firing as Diguglielmo walked toward her. His daughter, Amanda, told WPLG that she rejects claims the incident involved any advance by her father. She said, "I just don't think anybody deserves to lose their life over a parking spot."

The case will go to the Broward State Attorney's Office to decide on charges.
