Francisco Lindor and Nolan McLean lead Mets past Phillies

Francisco Lindor reached base five times and Nolan McLean struck out 10 in the Mets' 6-1 win over the Phillies on Sunday at Citizens Bank Park.

Lindor went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBIs. He also walked twice and doubled in the eighth inning, falling a triple short of the cycle.

Mets interim manager Andy Green praised the shortstop after the game. “He was awesome today,” Green said. “He was Francisco Lindor. That’s who we want him to be.”

McLean threw six scoreless innings, allowing only two runners to reach scoring position. Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm called the rookie “one of the best in the game.”

Lindor said the performance felt good after recent struggles. “It felt good to contribute,” he said. “Learn from it and turn the page.”
