Microsoft has confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will arrive on October 6, 2026, as an exclusive title for Xbox consoles and PC. The game will not release on PlayStation 5.
The announcement came during Microsoft's Summer Game Fest showcase in Los Angeles. A new trailer revealed gameplay footage and set the release date for the title developed by The Coalition. Xbox head Asha Sharma stated that the game is no longer planned for PlayStation 5. It will instead be available on Xbox, PC and Xbox Cloud. Gears of War: E-Day is built on Unreal Engine and targets 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with ray tracing in the campaign. Multiplayer modes are set to reach up to 120 frames per second. The story focuses on the day the Locust invaded Earth and features series characters Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago.
