German national team unveils home kit for 2026 world cup

The German Football Association and Adidas have unveiled the new home kit for the national team. It features a white jersey with black, red, and gold stripes reminiscent of the 1990s World Cup kits. Striker Nick Woltemade praises the retro design.

The new home kit for the German national team pays homage to the 1990s. It is in traditional white with black, red, and gold stripes running across the chest toward a diamond shape. This design strongly recalls the 1990 World Cup winning kit, with the 'zigzag look' inspired by the 1994 model – the year of the first World Cup in the USA, as stated by the DFB.

Julian Nagelsmann's team will wear it for the first time on November 14 in a World Cup qualifier in Luxembourg. Assuming qualification, the DFB squad will compete in this jersey during the summer of 2026 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico for a fifth World Cup title after 1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014.

'I really like this look, it's so beautifully retro. I think it's world-class and I'm looking forward to playing in it soon,' said striker Nick Woltemade in a DFB statement. He noted that he has rarely found a cooler kit.

This is the last home kit provided by Adidas for the DFB. Starting in 2027, Nike will equip the association with an annual volume of 100 million euros – roughly double the long-standing partnership with Adidas. The DFB now generates nearly half a billion euros in turnover per year.

In addition to the senior team, the youth national teams and the women's team will wear the new kit. Christian Wück's women will debut it on November 28 in the Nations League final in Kaiserslautern against Spain.
