German Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul visited Buenos Aires to strengthen bilateral cooperation and the European Union-Mercosur agreement.
Wadephul held meetings with Argentine authorities and took part in an event organized by the German Embassy in Argentina. The official noted that the EU-Mercosur agreement offers an opportunity to expand trade and investments between the two regions.
The agenda included progress on a memorandum of understanding on critical minerals such as lithium, copper and uranium. Germany seeks to diversify supply of these resources amid geopolitical tensions.
The visit formed part of a South American tour and served to reaffirm historical ties between the two countries in areas such as technological innovation and industrial development.
