A powerful thunderstorm with hail swept into the Stockholm area on Sunday. Over 10,000 lightning strikes were recorded across the country.
The storm was most intense from Småland up to southern Gästrikland. SMHI issued yellow warnings for heavy rainfall in parts of Svealand and Norrland.
Michael Ydefjord on Djurö in the Stockholm archipelago was hit by hailstones one to one and a half centimeters in size. He brought out the snow blower to clear the patio and photographed himself in flip-flops and shorts.
Lightning struck near him while he held a parasol and he felt current in his arm. A barn outside Haninge caught fire after a lightning strike and a water leak occurred in Huddinge.
Rain is expected to ease on Monday and heat to return later in the week, according to meteorologists at SMHI.
