GM Hans Niemann captured the 2026 Super Rapid & Blitz Poland title, securing the largest win of his career and a $50,000 prize. The wildcard entrant finished ahead of a strong field that included World Champion Gukesh Dommaraju and top American players.
Niemann led the standings throughout the five-day event held May 5-9 at the POLIN Museum in Warsaw. He won the rapid portion outright and maintained his position despite a late loss to Gukesh that allowed Fabiano Caruana to close the gap with five consecutive victories in the blitz segment. Niemann responded by winning his final two games against Jan-Krzysztof Duda and Radoslaw Wojtaszek to finish clear first without tiebreaks.
