Ice Cube has revealed he makes a cameo appearance in the upcoming meta reboot of 'Anaconda,' starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd. The actor, who played Danny Rich in the 1997 original, shared the news at the film's Los Angeles premiere. The movie premieres on Christmas Day.
Cameo Reveal
At the Los Angeles premiere of Sony Pictures' new 'Anaconda' on Saturday, Ice Cube confirmed his return to the franchise nearly three decades after the original. In the 1997 film, he portrayed cameraman Danny Rich alongside Jennifer Lopez's Terri Flores in a story about a documentary crew hunted by a giant snake in the Amazon.
"It’s cool to do a cameo, to kind of make it go full circle in a way," Ice Cube told reporters, as reported by People. "When they asked me to do it, when I knew the kind of movie they were doing, I jumped at it. I’m like, ‘This is something different. It’s cool.'" He added, "People probably get a kick out of me popping on the screen."
Plot and Cast
Directed and co-written by Tom Gormican, the new 'Anaconda' offers a meta twist on the classic. It follows lifelong friends Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd), who embark on remaking their favorite film during a midlife crisis. Their Amazon adventure turns deadly when a real giant anaconda disrupts their chaotic set. Steve Zahn also stars in the comedy-horror.
Paul Rudd has expressed enthusiasm for Ice Cube's involvement, celebrating the original cast member's approval of the reimagining.
Premiere and Release
The film held its premiere in Los Angeles ahead of its Christmas Day release. This cameo connects the new project to the 1997 cult hit, blending nostalgia with fresh humor.
