Iga Swiatek shared a story of Venus Williams holding a door open for her during their first meeting on the WTA tour. The moment highlighted Williams's humble demeanor ahead of the upcoming Wimbledon Championships.
Swiatek, the current world No. 3 and 29th seed at Wimbledon, described the encounter in a recent interview.
"She literally held the door for me for like 10 seconds to walk, and I was like, wow, Venus Williams just held the door for me," Swiatek said. She noted that Williams appeared calm and experienced.
Williams, 46, continues to compete at the top level. Other players, including Alexandra Eala, have also praised her humility after partnering with her in doubles at the Bad Homburg Open.
The Wimbledon draw was released recently, placing Swiatek on a challenging path that could include a third-round matchup against Serena Williams.
