India women face Australia in first ODI in Brisbane

India's women's cricket team faces Australia in the first ODI of the series in Brisbane, following their recent T20I series win. Australia captain Alyssa Healy is playing her final internationals before retirement.

India and Australia women's teams are clashing in the first ODI on Tuesday in Brisbane, starting at 9:20 AM. This series follows India's triumph in the preceding three-match T20I series, sealed with a thrilling win in the final game.

Australia captain Alyssa Healy is set to retire at the end of this series, which culminates in a one-off Test in Perth. Healy shared on the WillowTalk Cricket Podcast, “It’s been a long time coming. I think probably the last few years have been probably more mentally draining than anything else.” She highlighted the challenge from India: “India's playing some really good cricket, we're being really challenged at the moment, and they're full of confidence.”

India's head coach Amol Muzumdar, at the pre-match press conference, stated, “I mean, absolutely. That's what players play for. The coaching staff is there to coach the players. That's what we aim for. To be the world champions. This is the first series post after the World Cup victory.” He emphasized early arrival in Australia: “I think it is very critical, as far as the coaching staff is concerned.”

On Pratika Rawal's return to the ODI squad, Muzumdar called it a 'good headache to have' and said 'we'll cross the bridge when we get there.'
