Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo inaugurated a boxing ring under the Pasar Rebo flyover in East Jakarta on Monday to help reduce youth street fights.
The 247-square-meter facility has been in use since January 2026 and was built through community self-help efforts. The 9.5-by-9.5-meter boxing ring is jointly managed by the government and local community with free public access.
Pramono said he plans to add a similar ring in Kampung Melayu after seeing a drop in brawls around Pasar Rebo. “Hopefully this will benefit the youth in East Jakarta so their energy is channeled positively,” he said.
Local boxing coach Sudirman welcomed the facility. “With this boxing facility, fights around the Pasar Rebo flyover and surrounding areas have decreased,” he said.
