Jakob Lilja has agreed to join Vienna Capitals for the coming season. The 32-year-old forward moves to the Austrian club after ending his stint with EV Zug in Switzerland.
Vienna Capitals sport chief Christian Dolezal welcomed the addition. He noted that the team had monitored Lilja for some time and viewed him as a strong fit for the offense alongside head coach Mike Stewart.
Lilja expressed enthusiasm about the move in a statement. He described Vienna Capitals as a major club in Austria and highlighted the squad's recent strengthening, adding that the group shares high expectations for the season.
The forward previously competed in Sweden's SHL with Rögle, Linköping and Djurgården. His career has also included 37 NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets during the 2019/20 season, plus time in the KHL, Switzerland and Germany.
