The Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu County is set to begin national referral services by the end of January. Chief Executive Officer Dr. Joshua Clinton Okise stated that the transitional committee has completed its work and submitted its report.

The Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu County is preparing to offer national referral services starting late January. The hospital's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Joshua Clinton Okise, shared this update on Thursday, December 18, 2025, following a staff meeting in Kisumu.

Dr. Okise explained that the transitional committee finished its mandate on December 11 and formally handed over its report to the hospital's board of management, the county's Department of Health Services, and his office. The process addressed three key pillars: resources, legal aspects, and the transfer of assets and finances. "To bring stability to the hospital following its upgrade to national referral status," Dr. Okise stated.

Additionally, the payroll management system has been fully transferred from Kisumu County Government to JOOTRH. The hospital now pays its staff directly, with salaries disbursed on the 27th of each month since the changes. This move is expected to enhance stability and efficiency in the hospital's operations after its status elevation.
