JBL shares views on original ECW and WWE reboot

WWE Hall of Famer JBL discussed the original ECW and the company's 2006 reboot during a recent podcast appearance.

JBL said his only involvement with ECW came through the One Night Stand pay-per-views in 2005 and 2006. He admitted on the latest episode of "Something to Wrestle" that WWE failed to capture the spirit of the original promotion.

"I thought we did a really poor job with ECW, the reboot," JBL said. "We didn't hold true to what ECW was." He noted that the shows did not take place in ECW arenas, which removed any reason for him to participate as a heel.

JBL added that he had not been familiar with ECW during its peak years. After appearing at the first One Night Stand, he realized the passion involved and wished he could have worked there as a heel in the 1990s.
