Junet tells Sakaja to rejoin ODM to clinch Nairobi governor seat in 2027

The ODM party has called on Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to join it if he wants the party's support for re-election in 2027.

Junet, the Suna East member of parliament and ODM director of elections, made the call during an empowerment event in Kileleshwa, Nairobi. He said only ODM can make Sakaja governor again, and that the party will ensure it wins all seats in Nairobi.

Junet added that the party will back its own candidates and will not support Sakaja if he stays in UDA. This is not the first time ODM members have made the call, with similar statements issued in February 2025 by other officials.

Sakaja gave a vague response at the time, saying he would meet ODM bosses in Nairobi. The renewed calls come amid coalition talks between UDA and ODM ahead of the general elections.
