Kansas State qualifies 16 athletes for NCAA indoor championships

Kansas State's track and field program has qualified 16 athletes for the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships, marking a significant achievement after a strong indoor season. Nine men and seven women will compete at the event, scheduled for March 13-14 at the Randal Tyson Track Center. The qualifiers highlight the team's strength in field events.

The Kansas State Wildcats have secured spots for 16 athletes in the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, following a successful indoor campaign. This group includes nine men and seven women, with a focus on field events where the program has a established reputation.

On the men's side, qualifiers are high jumpers Alan Hanna and Devin Loudermilk, long jumpers Tah Chikomba and Uroy Ryan, triple jumpers Aaron Antoine, Trevon Hamer, and Selva Prabhu, and weight throwers Kade McCall and Gary Moore Jr. The women's contingent features high jumper Sharie Enoe, long jumpers Chisom Nwafor and Maud Zeffou-Poaty, triple jumpers Destini Smith and Daniela Wamokpego, weight thrower Monique Hardy, and pentathlete Vanessa Mercera.

This qualification comes on the heels of strong performances at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, where the men's team finished as runners-up with 124 points, and the women's team placed fourth with 78.5 points. Six athletes claimed individual conference titles, the most since 2016. Notable wins included Monique Hardy's women's weight throw at 21.89 meters, Kade McCall's men's weight throw at 22.63 meters, Maud Zeffou-Poaty's women's long jump at 6.62 meters, Uroy Ryan's men's long jump at 7.90 meters, Devin Loudermilk's men's high jump at 2.25 meters, and the men's 4x400 relay victory in 3:05.59.

Nationally, the men's team ranks No. 5 with 110.00 points, while the women's team is No. 10 with 75.22 points, according to USTFCCCA Week 6 rankings. This is the largest contingent for the men's team since 2011 and for the women since 2015. The championships will be held at the Randal Tyson Track Center, with live coverage on ESPN+.
