Federal deputy Kim Kataguiri announced on Saturday that he will not run for São Paulo governor in 2026 and will seek re-election to the Chamber.
Kataguiri, of the Missão party, made the announcement at an event in the Liberdade neighborhood of São Paulo, alongside Renan Santos. He said he will coordinate Santos' presidential campaign and help create a superministry for state reform if his ally wins.
The deputy explained that the ministry would be cross-cutting, covering areas such as management, labor, social security and the Civil House. He plans to contact economists including Zeina Latif, Marcos Mendes and Marcos Lisboa to collaborate on the project.
The decision came after polls showed Kataguiri with about 5% to 8% of voting intentions. The party deemed it more strategic to re-elect him to the Chamber to help pull votes for other candidates.
