Kingdom Hearts IV trailer shown at Nintendo Direct

A new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV appeared during Nintendo's Direct presentation on June 9, 2026. The footage introduced story elements and confirmed the game's arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.

The trailer depicted a hooded figure in an Organization XIII cloak describing a new realistic world called Quadratum. Darkness from that world manifested as Heartless creatures for Sora and allies to confront. Characters shown included returning figures Sora, Donald and Goofy alongside Luxord, Strelitzia and Vali. Footage also suggested a possible return for Xehanort and a younger version of Final Fantasy XIII character Cid Raines. Combat resembled Kingdom Hearts III with additions such as chain-surfing attacks and a shield mechanic. The presentation offered no release date or window for the title. Kingdom Hearts IV was first announced in 2022. The new trailer marks the first substantial update since then and positions the game as the start of a fresh story arc.
