Towns has averaged 19.5 points and 12.5 rebounds through the first two games while providing strong defense. Trade talks between the Knicks and Bucks occurred last August but ended before the season. League chatter about Antetokounmpo joining New York has since decreased due to Towns' contributions. The Bucks aim to resolve Antetokounmpo's future, as he can become an unrestricted free agent in 2027, ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft later this month. Co-owner Jimmy Haslam stated last month that the team will do what is best for both Antetokounmpo and the organization.
