Lauren Graham updates progress on Gilmore Girls book with Amy Sherman-Palladino

Lauren Graham has shared an update on her collaborative book project with Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. The memoir, focusing on behind-the-scenes stories from the series, is set for a fall 2027 release by Celadon Books. Graham provided the details during a premiere event in Los Angeles.

Lauren Graham, known for portraying Lorelai Gilmore in the seven-season series that aired from 2000 to 2007, revealed progress on a new book with series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. The project, first announced in December 2025 on the Today show, explores never-before-told stories from the show's production and the enduring friendship between the two women.

Speaking at the premiere of the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's Reminders of Him in Los Angeles on March 9, 2026, the 58-year-old actress described the collaboration as a significant milestone. "If you had told me 25 years ago that we would get to a place where she wants to collaborate with me, that's a win," Graham told PEOPLE magazine, referring to Sherman-Palladino as her "boss."

The book remains untitled and is progressing steadily, though not rapidly, due to both women's busy schedules. Sherman-Palladino has been directing a film in London following her work on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, while Graham has been involved in productions including Reminders of Him. "So it may take a minute, but I think once we really get in the groove of hanging out together and telling our stories, it's going to flow," Graham said. She added that the process has allowed her to ask questions about creative decisions she never posed during the original series run.

Graham emphasized the book's focus on the "humor, heart and alchemy" that defined Gilmore Girls, set in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. "I think it'll be a story about Gilmore Girls, but also to me, it's a story of friendship and a story of kind of these two people who met at a certain place and now we're friends and colleagues still many years later," she noted.

This project builds on Graham's previous writings, such as her 2016 memoir Talking as Fast as I Can, which covered the Netflix revival A Year in the Life. Fans can anticipate the release in fall 2027, offering fresh insights into the cultural phenomenon.
