Lindsay Lohan reflects on overwhelming fame from her youth

Lindsay Lohan has shared that fame felt overwhelming during her younger years. The actress discussed her rise to stardom and decision to move to Dubai in a recent interview. She credits her husband for helping her adopt a more prepared mindset.

Oh, darlings, Lindsay Lohan is serving up some real talk on the highs and lows of child stardom – and honey, it's a double-edged sword! 💔 In her cover story for Vogue Arabia, the 39-year-old icon opened up about shooting to fame in the late '90s with Disney's The Parent Trap, followed by that iconic 2004 role in Mean Girls. But back then? Fame hit hard. "I should have listened to my mom and dad and moved back to New York. But I was young and wanted to be in LA. And I didn’t know," she told the magazine. "So yeah, while a lot of it was fun, it was hard when I was young. It was a double-edged sword."

Looking back, Lohan wonders why no one pulled her out of the Hollywood whirlwind sooner. "Now I look back and wonder, ‘Why didn’t anyone just go and take me out of there, protect me more?’ You don’t know how to do that yourself when you’re a teenager," she reflected. Fast-forward to 2014: burnt out and not loving the roles anymore, she packed up for Dubai to escape the pressures. Married to financier Bader Shammas since 2022, Lohan has zero regrets. "I wasn’t having fun in the business anymore. I wasn’t finding roles I loved. It’s not a life I wanted to live, you know? It’s not a real life. It pushed me so far away that I moved to the other side of the world. And I’m so glad I followed my gut," she said.

And shoutout to hubby Bader for the life lessons. In a previous chat with People, Lohan revealed how he's taught her to brace for curveballs: "I’m a very positive person so I always expect everything to go the way it’s supposed to go — and my husband has taught me, ‘You have to be prepared for other things, so you don’t get disappointed. If this doesn’t go that way, then it’s okay.' And that’s really important to me because I never really understood the value of that. You are your own vessel. If you don’t nurture yourself, anything can distract you in a second. Anything can take a turn."

From Mean Girls mess to Dubai bliss – Lohan's glow-up is giving major self-care vibes. But tell me, stars: would you trade the spotlight for serenity?
