Mason Klein seeks privateer return to Dakar Rally

American motorcycle racer Mason Klein is raising funds to compete in the 2027 Dakar Rally as a privateer. He aims to cover entry fees, fuel, tires and other expenses through a GoFundMe campaign that has nearly reached half its $6,000 goal.

Klein has competed in the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia several times with mixed results. As a rookie in 2022 he finished ninth overall on a paid privateer seat with the BAS World team. The following year he won a stage and briefly led the rally before an injury forced him out, and he later placed 14th overall in 2026 with Hoto Factory Racing after earlier attempts ended in mechanical failures.
