José Utsch de Lima, known as Lima Escritor, died on July 12, 2026, in Lagoa Santa, Minas Gerais, at the age of 89. He worked as a bus driver, postman and salesman before dedicating himself to writing books and philosophical phrases.
José Utsch de Lima was born in Conceição do Mato Dentro and moved to Lagoa Santa, where he lived until his death. He began writing stories on paper napkins on Sunday mornings and published ten books, including "Voltei" in 2003.
The writer printed his philosophical phrases at a local print shop and hung nearly 300 frames on the walls of his home. He was the grandson of Germans and maintained a personal religiosity, making promises and praying the rosary in times of need.
Lima left behind his wife, three children, seven nephews, three great-grandchildren, a cat named Maria Bela and ten books. He was buried in Lagoa Santa on July 13.
