Energy Minister Ximena Rincón stated that the supply of gas from Argentina to the Ñuble and Biobío regions will be restored during Saturday after a suspension due to failure to meet Chilean standards. The cut occurred on Thursday and did not affect residential supply. The industrial sector had backups to continue operating.

Energy Minister Ximena Rincón assured that the supply of gas from Argentina to the Ñuble and Biobío regions is now under control and will be restored during Saturday, according to information from the Superintendency of Electricity and Combustible (SEC).

The cut occurred on Thursday after the Government detected that the gas transported via the Gasoducto del Pacífico did not meet the standards required in Chile, which are stricter than in Argentina. “Its reception was suspended until the product meets the standards required in Chile,” the Ministry of Energy stated.

Rincón emphasized that “the service for the residential sector was never suspended,” while the industrial sector “has had backup to continue operating.” The situation was handled “in a serious and responsible manner,” according to the minister.

Via her X account, Rincón highlighted coordination with the SEC, ENAP, Regional Presidential Delegations, seremías, and involved companies. “The event was controlled promptly thanks to the coordination,” she stated, underscoring the Ministry's technical and proactive work.
