Mirra Andreeva says French Open euphoria fades quickly

Mirra Andreeva has described how the thrill of winning her first Grand Slam title at the French Open faded within days. The 19-year-old Russian spoke about returning to training and preparing for the grass-court season.

Andreeva told the Russian sports website Championat that she had not expected the post-victory emotions to disappear so fast. “Those incredible emotions, the euphoria, the adrenaline rush, when you just win a tournament and realise it’s a Grand Slam, all came together,” she said. “The only thing I didn’t expect was that those emotions would fade so quickly.”

She added that she plans to resume training in two days and already views the Roland Garros triumph as past. Andreeva is skipping the Berlin Open next week to rest and focus on Wimbledon.

The teenager reached the French Open semifinals at age 17 and won consecutive WTA 1000 titles last year. After early-season struggles, she paired with Diana Shnaider in doubles, which helped restore her confidence before the Paris final.
