MLB proposes salary cap and floor in CBA offer

Major League Baseball presented its first economic proposal for a new collective bargaining agreement to the MLB Players Association on Thursday. The offer includes a salary cap and floor starting in 2027 along with a 50-50 revenue split.

The seven-year proposal would run from 2027 through 2033. It sets a 2027 salary cap of $245.3 million and a floor of $171.2 million, both including benefits costs. Twelve teams would need to raise payroll to meet the floor while eight would need to reduce spending to stay under the cap.
