Munetaka Murakami signs with Jordan Brand for MLB All-Star events

Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami of the Chicago White Sox has signed with Jordan Brand. The deal comes as he prepares for his first MLB Home Run Derby.

The announcement aligns with MLB All-Star Weekend. Murakami will wear Jordan 3 "True Blue" cleats during the event tonight at Citizens Bank Park.

He joins other MLB players including Aaron Judge, Mookie Betts, and Elly De La Cruz on the Jordan Brand roster. Murakami signed a two-year, $34 million contract with the White Sox earlier this year after strong performances in Japan's NPB league.

In a statement, Murakami said joining Jordan Brand is a dream come true and highlighted values of greatness and pushing limits. The Jordan 3 "True Blue" cleats release today for $205 on the Nike website.

His profile in Japan adds value for the brand's international reach. A related Jordan 3 retro shoe follows on July 18.
