The Ministry of Culture has authorized the capture of up to 3.9 million reais via the Rouanet Law for the musical Timbalada – Rhythm, Color and History. The itinerant production will celebrate the group's history from its creation by Carlinhos Brown in the Candeal neighborhood in Salvador to the present day. The show will tour ten cities in Bahia.
The Ministry of Culture has approved Casamata Produções Artísticas to raise funds through the Rouanet Law, totaling up to 3.9 million reais, for the production of the musical Timbalada – Rhythm, Color and History. This initiative aims to rescue and honor the trajectory of Timbalada, an Afro-Baian percussion group founded by Carlinhos Brown in the Candeal neighborhood in Salvador in the 1990s. The show's narrative will cover from the group's early days, characterized by the fusion of local rhythms and cultural elements from the region, to its contemporary successes that have solidified its legacy in Brazilian music.
The production will be itinerant, with a season of performances planned for ten municipalities in Bahia: Salvador, Feira de Santana, Vitória da Conquista, Ilhéus, Itabuna, Jequié, Juazeiro, Barreiras, Alagoinhas, and Santo Antônio de Jesus. The main goal is to exalt the history, aesthetics, and lasting impact of Afro-Baian percussion, promoting access to local culture in various communities.
There is no premiere date set yet, but the project underscores the commitment to preserving Bahia's intangible heritage. This authorization reflects governmental support for performing arts, especially those rooted in Brazil's cultural diversity.
