The NHL and Fanatics have revealed the uniforms for the 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic, featuring the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers at loanDepot Park in Miami on Jan. 2. The designs draw on nostalgia and team history, marking the Panthers' first outdoor game and the Rangers' sixth regular-season outdoor matchup. This will be the southernmost outdoor game in league history.
The Florida Panthers' uniform showcases a vintage interpretation of the original 'leaping panther' crest, used from the team's 1993 inaugural season through 2016. Executed with felt and chain stitching, the dark crimson jersey evokes early 20th-century craftsmanship. It includes decorative chevrons honoring South Florida's military heritage and a rat silhouette on the rear hem loop, nodding to the team's tradition of fans throwing rats onto the ice after home wins.
The New York Rangers' white jersey extends their Centennial theme for the franchise's 100th season. It features 'New York' in diagonal lettering on the front, bold oversized stripes on sleeves and hem, and an apple logo with 'NYR' initials on the left shoulder. This design complements the team's traditional light jersey while tying into the current Centennial look.
Dom Fillion, senior creative director at Fanatics, emphasized the nostalgic approach: 'The Winter Classic is such an amazing event. It’s very nostalgia-driven.' For the Panthers, he reimagined the leaping panther as if the team had a century-long history: 'What would that leaping panther look like if the Florida Panthers were a franchise that has 100-year-old history?' The Rangers hold a perfect 5-0 record in regular-season outdoor games since 2012, outscoring opponents 21-13.
The game, the 17th Winter Classic since 2008, will air at 8 p.m. ET on TNT in the U.S. and Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada. Merchandise, including jerseys, becomes available Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. ET via NHLShop.com, team stores, and Fanatics sites. Tickets remain on sale through Ticketmaster. This event highlights Florida's growing hockey scene, with another outdoor game—the Bruins vs. Lightning on Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium—also scheduled for 2025-26.
