The National Police Service has shifted the recruitment venue for candidates in Nairobi's Kamukunji Sub-County to Morisson Primary School due to construction at the original site. Former National Youth Service members are directed to report at the NYS Headquarters in Ruaraka. The nationwide exercise resumes on November 17, 2025, after court hurdles were cleared.
The National Police Service (NPS) announced on Sunday, November 16, 2025, a change in venue for police recruitment candidates registered for Centre No. 408 in Kamukunji Sub-County, Nairobi. Originally set for Kamukunji Sports Grounds, the exercise will now occur at Morisson Primary School, about two kilometers away. "The original venue... has been deemed unfit to conduct the recruitment due to ongoing construction works," the NPS stated.
Venues elsewhere in the country remain unchanged. The one-day recruitment, running from 8am to 5pm across 427 centres, aims to enlist 10,000 constables. Inspector General Douglas Kanja confirmed on November 14, 2025, that the process would proceed as scheduled following the High Court's lifting of conservatory orders issued after activist Eliud Matindi's petition. Justice Bahati Mwamuye vacated the orders, allowing resumption on November 17. Kanja had previously warned that delays could jeopardize national security and police capacity, strained by budget constraints over several cycles.
Separately, National Youth Service Commandant General Samson Kiptum instructed former NYS members to report to the NYS Headquarters in Ruaraka, designated as Centre S/No. 423. "Following the release of the addendum to the Kenya Police Recruitment Advertisement 2025, which added Ruaraka (NYS Headquarters) as Recruitment Centre S/No. 423, the Employment Liaison Office wishes to communicate that the recruitment exercise will be conducted at NHU Grounds, off Thika Road, opposite Utalii Hotel," Kiptum said. Ex-NYS candidates need a valid NYS Discharge Certificate as a gate pass and must meet NPS criteria, including Kenyan citizenship, age 18-28, valid ID, KCSE D+ with D+ in English or Kiswahili, physical fitness (males 5 ft 8 in, females 5 ft 3 in), no pregnancy for females, and no felony records. NYS graduates are encouraged to apply, but all should prioritize sub-county centres due to short notice.
The recruitment was advertised on October 31, 2025, marking the first in years amid staffing shortages.
