The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has warned the public about a fake Instagram account pretending to be the agency's. The account, named 'ntsa_kenya_', is being used to scam Kenyans. NTSA has advised people not to share personal details and to report the account immediately.
On February 19, 2026, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) issued a notice warning the public not to interact with the Instagram account 'ntsa_kenya_', which is not official. The account has 878 followers and uses NTSA's logo as its profile picture along with posts similar to those on the agency's verified social media pages, making it easy to deceive Kenyans.
NTSA stated that its official communication channels are the verified social media accounts under the handle @ntsa_kenya, its website www.ntsa.go.ke, the email [email protected], and customer care numbers 0709 932 000/300. If contacted by such an account, individuals should reach out to the authority via the phone number +254750163841 or report to the nearest police station.
"NTSA cautions members of the public about a fake NTSA Instagram account. (ntsa_kenya_) The authority only communicates through its official channels," NTSA stated. "Never share your personal information with anyone. If you come across a suspicious account claiming to belong to NTSA, do not engage; report it immediately," it added.
This alert comes nearly three weeks after the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO) issued a similar warning on January 31, 2026, regarding nine social media accounts using its name and branding to defraud Kenyans. Those accounts include KALRO Livestock Farm, KALRO Farm Livestock Naivasha, KALRO Farm Naivasha, Kalro Farm Kenya, Kalro Farm 07809536--, Kalro Farm Naivasha, and KALRO Livestock Farm. KALRO noted that its official channels are its Facebook page (KALRO), X account (Kalromkulima), TikTok page (KALRO_Official), and official website, along with contacts 0800 721 741 and 0722 206 986.
"The public is hereby notified that KALRO is NOT affiliated with the following social media accounts and any other accounts impersonating KALRO. These fraudulent accounts have been scamming members of the public through impersonation and false representation," KALRO stated.
