Örebro SK faced a tough challenge in the Superettan playoff against Hammarby TFF, Hammarby's youth team. In the first leg in Stockholm, Hammarby TFF won 1–0, giving them an advantage heading into the return match in Örebro.
The game turned into an intense drama. Kalle Holmberg opened the scoring for ÖSK, but another goal was disallowed after a corner due to crowding in the penalty area. In extra time, Adrian Lahdo gave Hammarby TFF the aggregate lead with a long-range shot. ÖSK seemed headed for relegation, but in the 115th minute, John Stenberg equalized and saved the team.
The penalty shootout decided in ÖSK's favor. The team converted all five penalties, while Hammarby TFF missed two. Erik Andersson scored the decisive penalty in the fifth round, ending 5–3.
