Padel Federation of Nigeria launches with Benson as president

The Padel Federation of Nigeria (PFN) has been officially launched to govern and promote the sport across the country. Babajimi Adegoke Benson was elected as president, with Alain Semaan named vice president. The federation aims to foster growth through competitions, coaching, and international participation.

The launch of the Padel Federation of Nigeria marks a structured beginning for the sport, described in the announcement as one of the world's fastest-growing activities. The PFN will regulate national competitions, develop coaches and referees, and run youth and grassroots programs. It will also handle Nigeria's involvement in continental and global padel events.

Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the new president, highlighted the potential for the sport during the launch. “We are thrilled to introduce a formal structure for Padel in Nigeria. As the fastest-growing sport globally, Padel offers enormous opportunities for participation, talent discovery, and international success,” he said. Benson added that the mission focuses on expanding grassroots involvement, improving competitive levels, and providing pathways for Nigerian players to reach regional and international stages.

Vice President Alain Semaan stressed the role of partnerships in the federation's efforts. “Together with the Federation, clubs, partners, and communities, we will expand access to world-class facilities, quality coaching, and structured competition opportunities across Nigeria,” Semaan stated. He noted that the initiative seeks to build a solid base for players and elevate Nigeria's standing in the global padel scene.

The PFN's responsibilities include setting national rules in line with international standards, organizing tournaments and leagues, and launching talent-identification programs. It will offer certification for coaches and officials, and form ties with government, private entities, and international organizations to boost facilities and grassroots work. The federation represents Nigeria in global forums and invites clubs, coaches, players, sponsors, and others to contribute to the sport's development. The PFN plans to collaborate closely with Magic Sports Limited, drawing on its expertise in facilities, coaching, and community programs to speed up padel's spread nationwide.
