Pramono highlights shift in national challenges to information sovereignty

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stressed that national challenges have shifted from territorial issues to information sovereignty and digital transformation. He made the remarks during National Awakening Day commemorations at Jakarta City Hall.

Pramono said that entering 2026 national challenges have shifted from territorial sovereignty toward information sovereignty and digital transformation. He delivered the statement on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, at Jakarta City Hall.

National Awakening Day commemorations carried the theme Guard the Nation's Shoots for the Sovereignty of the Country. Pramono explained that protecting the younger generation in digital spaces has become a government priority through the Government Regulation on the Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection, or PP Tunas.

The Jakarta Provincial Government fully supports the implementation of PP Tunas by issuing a Governor Regulation as a derivative of Government Regulation number 17 of 2025. The measure is expected to reduce children's dependence on gadgets, especially since children in Jakarta are relatively more digitally literate than those in other regions.
