RJ Abarrientos delivered 24 points to help Barangay Ginebra defeat TNT 102-100 in Game 1 of the 2026 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Wednesday.
Abarrientos also grabbed seven rebounds and hit two crucial four-point plays late in the contest at Smart Araneta Coliseum. His efforts gave the Gin Kings the lead before Justin Brownlee sealed the victory with a jumper in the final second. The guard acknowledged his performance was not perfect. He said his two four-point shots were not sustainable and that his defense needed improvement after TNT erased an 18-point deficit. Coach Tim Cone praised the shots from Abarrientos. The win puts Ginebra ahead in the best-of-seven series ahead of Game 2 on Friday.
